Gonen Myo Ituro Returns from the 2022 Robot Olympics with Awards

Participating in the ITURO robot competition, GRT (Gönen Robotics Society) was successful in the Traffic Robot and Logistics robot categories. In both categories, our robots won two honorable mentions and a cash prize of 14000 TL. Organized by the Istanbul Technical University Robotics Group and Otokon, the International Robot Olympics were held on 24-26 March 2022 at the Süleyman Demirel Culture and Congress Center at ITU Ayazaga Campus. Nearly 1000 robots and thousands of robot lovers participated in the races organized in 8 categories, namely Micro Sumo, Line Football, Traffic, Color Picker, Drone, Scenario Logistics, Stair Climbing and Construction. Among the participants were many Technical Universities, State Universities, Private Universities, Private Colleges, Vocational Technical Anatolian High Schools and university robot societies from abroad. Gonen Robotics Group participated in these competitions with 12 Robots in the categories of "Traffic", "Scenario Logistics Robot" and "Line Football" with 24 students from Computer Programming and Information Security departments under the consultancy of Dr. Lecturer Selahattin KOŞUNALP and Lecturer Mustafa TAŞCI. Gonen Robotics Group, which successfully represents our university, left its rivals behind by getting the highest score with the robots named "GRT Tarfik1-Price" in the "Traffic" category and with the robots "Cezeri and Milka" in the Scenario Logistics category. Since there was no robot that qualified for the top three in the final, our robot team with the highest score was entitled to receive the honorable mention, the highest award given in both categories.
