Our Mission and Objectives
Gönen Vocational School, Department of Electricity and Energy, Natural Gas and Installation Technology Program started its education and training activities in 1994 with 30 students under the name of Plumbing. In 1999, the name of the program was changed to Natural Gas, Heating and Plumbing Technology. Between 2009 and 2019, it continued under the name of Gas and Installation Technology. Since 2019, it has been carrying out its education and training activities under the name of Natural Gas and Installation Technology. The primary objective of the Natural Gas and Installation Technology Program is to train qualified intermediate staff needed by the sector, who possess theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the fields of natural gas, heating, and plumbing. By providing its students with the necessary knowledge and skills in mechanical systems, natural gas installation, heating technologies, and industrial automation, the program aims to train technical personnel who can take part in the installation, operation, and maintenance of safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly systems.
Program Educational Objectives (PEO)
PEO 1: To ensure that students comprehensively learn fundamental and advanced professional concepts related to the energy field.
PEO 2: To aim for students to acquire work habits in accordance with ethical principles by considering individual, social, and environmental responsibilities in professional life.
PEO 3: To target the development of creative and effective skills in problem-solving, solution generation, decision-making, and management processes.
PEO 4: To provide the competence to follow and adapt to rapid changes and innovations in technology and to use current technologies effectively.
It is aimed that students graduating from the Gas and Installation Technology Program will be able to:
- Explain the fundamental concepts, principles, and essentials related to the gas and installation profession,
- Recognize the systems implemented in the fields of natural gas, heating, and plumbing, and design them appropriately for the application area,
- Possess the knowledge and skills for testing, measurement, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance deemed necessary to ensure the efficient operation of existing and newly constructed systems,
- Recognize and use the tools, machinery, and equipment in the fields of natural gas, heating, and plumbing; possess knowledge regarding occupational accidents and safety measures; and apply pipe-working and welding-based assembly,
- Perform basic professional drawings and use computer-aided software packages in these studies,
- Follow technological developments in the field and utilize automation opportunities,
- Possess knowledge regarding fundamental mathematical and physical subjects,
- Possess knowledge and equipment related to basic business management and quality.
