2026–2027 Academic Year Compulsory English 5/I Proficiency (Exemption) Examination Announcement – October 15, 2026
This announcement concerns applications for the proficiency (exemption) examination for students who wish to be exempt from the Foreign Language I and Foreign Language II courses included in the curricula of all departments and programs.
ONLY STUDENTS WHO ENROLLED AT THE UNIVERSITY THROUGH STUDENT AMNESTY, ADDITIONAL PLACEMENT, OR VERTICAL TRANSFER IN THE 2026–2027 ACADEMIC YEAR ARE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THIS EXAMINATION.
IMPORTANT: Students who took or applied for the same examination held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, ARE NOT ELIGIBLE to take this examination. Students enrolled in the Compulsory English Preparatory Program ARE NOT ELIGIBLE to take this examination.
The 2026–2027 Academic Year Compulsory Foreign Language (English) Course Proficiency Examination under Article 5(i) of Law No. 2547 will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM for all Faculty and Vocational School students. Examination venues will be announced on the BANÜ School of Foreign Languages (YDYO) website.

Students who score 60 or above on the examination will be exempt from the Compulsory Foreign Language Courses under Article 5(i) and will not be required to take the relevant courses.
Students who enrolled through Student Amnesty, Additional Placement, or Vertical Transfer may access the application form for the Compulsory Foreign Language Courses (Article 5(i)) Proficiency Examination, scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, through the link below.
Note: Students enrolled in the English Translation and Interpreting, Marine Transportation and Management Engineering (30% English), and Economics (English) departments are not eligible to take this examination.

The application form will be available from Thursday, October 8, 2026, through Monday, October 12, 2026. Applications will close at 5:00 PM on Monday, October 12, 2026. Applications submitted after the specified date and time will not be accepted.
