Poster Exhibition by Dr. Yasin Avcı

Dr. Yasin Avcı, Assistant Professor in the Graphic Design Department of our Vocational School, presented his personal poster exhibition, "Right Before Our Eyes," at the Gaziosmanpaşa Culture and Arts Center.

The exhibition, consisting of 17 posters, addresses chronic social issues of our time such as global warming, consumer culture, digital addiction, poverty, and freedom of expression. Instead of a direct and explanatory narrative, the works employ a minimalist and symbolic visual language with high conceptual intensity. Each poster is constructed around a single, powerful image, and the object-space-proportion relationship is considered a conscious design strategy. Our professor states that the main aim of the exhibition is to question the viewer's "comfort of viewing" and transform the passive practice of observation into an active thinking process. In this respect, the exhibition positions graphic design beyond an aesthetic production field; within the context of critical thinking and social awareness.
