History
Gönen Vocational School commenced its activities in accordance with the decision taken at the meeting of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) on February 14, 1994. Based on this decision, the Computerized Accounting and Tax Applications Program and the Plumbing Program were approved to open for the 1994-1995 Academic Year, each with an initial quota of 30 students.
Our Vocational School conducted its educational activities between September 1, 1994, and April 15, 2005, in a building originally constructed as a dormitory by the Gönen Village Services Union and subsequently allocated by the Gönen District Governor's Office for the use of Balıkesir University, Gönen Vocational School. The construction of our Vocational School’s own main facility blocks—consisting of the administrative building, classrooms, a conference hall, a cafeteria, and a dining hall—has been completely finished and put into service. Since April 15, 2005, our school has been continuing its educational and training activities in its own purpose-built facility.
Pursuant to Article 1 of the "Law on Amendments to the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions and Certain Laws and Decree-Laws" (Law No. 6640), published in the Official Gazette dated April 23, 2015, and numbered 29335, a new university named Bandırma Onyedi Eylül Üniversitesi was established in the Bandırma district of Balıkesir province. Consequently, the affiliation of Gönen Vocational School was transferred from Balıkesir University to Bandırma Onyedi Eylül Üniversitesi.
