Legislation
Brief information regarding education and training is provided below. For detailed regulations, you can access the student regulations links provided at the bottom of the page.
-
Academic Advising: Every student is assigned an academic advisor.
-
Course Registration: Course selection and registration renewal are carried out with the guidance of the advisor at the beginning of each semester (excluding the first-year fall semester).
-
Student Responsibility: The ultimate responsibility for correct course selection rests entirely with the student.
-
Credit Limits (GPA under 1.80): Starting from the end of the second semester, students whose Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) falls below 1.80 at the end of any semester can register for a maximum of 24 credits in the following semester.
-
Credit Limits (GPA 1.80 and above): Students whose CGPA is 1.80 or above at the end of any semester can register for a maximum of 30 credits in the following semester.
-
Summer School: Excluding the fall and spring semesters, a summer school session may be opened upon the proposal of the relevant board of directors and the decision of the University Senate. Summer school procedures are conducted within the framework of the relevant legislative provisions.
-
Summer School Credits: Regardless of the credits assigned to courses taken during summer school, the standard credits of the program in which the student is enrolled will be taken as the basis.
-
Summer School Attendance: Courses taken during summer school do not exempt students from future attendance or count toward prior attendance requirements.
-
Taking Courses from Other Universities: Students wishing to take summer school courses from other universities must obtain written approval from the course instructor or the department head of their home institution confirming course equivalence, and must comply with the principles determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
-
Repeated Courses and CGPA: When calculating the CGPA, if a course is repeated, the most recent grade obtained from that course is valid.
-
Elective Course Substitution: If another elective course is taken instead of a failed elective course that needs to be repeated, the grade of the most recently taken course will be taken into consideration.
-
Attendance Requirements: Attendance is mandatory. Students who fail to attend more than 30% of theoretical courses and 20% of practical/applied courses will not be admitted to the exams for that course.
-
Attendance on Repeated Courses: For repeated courses, if the attendance requirement was successfully met in a previous semester, further attendance is not required.
-
Grades for Repeated Courses: Prior grades obtained in previous semesters for repeated courses become completely invalid once the course is retaken.
